Proud To Be a Woman!!

I do not think there are words to descibe what I had the privilage of doing this morning!! I had the opportunity to do the race for the cure 5K!! (Breast Cancer Walk/ Run) I did the race with my friend/co-worker Jess!! (You know the one who biffed it rollerblading) First of all it was the perfect day for a race!! It was a little chilly, however, all we needed to do is add the layers on!! I think it was in the low 50's by time we got downtown!! I was overwhelmed with many emotions throughout the morning, and I still cannot help thinking about it!! All the many surviors that were walking and those walking for loved ones that had passed on!! People were wearing little signs on their back that said who they were walking for!! Above the names it said "In Celebration of.... or In Memory of" I smiled when I saw those whose lives were being celebrated because they beat this horrible disease.... On the other hand my heart broke when I saw someones sign that said In memory of My Wife, or My Mom, My Sister, My Friend, etc.... I cannot believe how many people came out today to support such a great cause.... They estimated about 67,000 people came to walk!! Some were currently fighting for their life!! I met a woman who was diagnosed a couple of months ago who has recently lost her hair and is having a double mastectomy in December!! While walking with these women and men I could not help but think to myself how grateful I am to be a woman!!! I felt so close to all these women and I had no idea who they were.... However, the bond goes much deeper... If that makes any sense!! I could not help but think of those who I know personally who have been through this fight!!! Aunt Phyllis, Grandma Bair and I am sure there are many more women I know!! I encourage all of you if you have a race in your state to get out and do it!! I promise you it is so worth it, I promise no regrets!!

Even the dogs got into the spirit!! Your eyes are not playing tricks on you, this poodle was in fact pink!!!

Gymnastic Fun & Boys Are Dumb!!

This seemed to be the theme of our evening!! Hailey went out to play in the front yard around 6:15 and at the moment our house became Grand Central Station!! No, not really!! We had about 5 of our neighbor kids over in our yard playing!! Deja is the girl in the picture standing face to face with Hailey.... As soon as she saw Hailey she asked her if she wanted to work on her backbend!! Deja is very much into dancing and gymnastics!! She lives around the cornor and a couple of houses up!! The little girl sitting on the ground is Rya (R-eye-a) She is so stinking cute! She reminds me so much of my little niece Heather... Attitude and all!! She loves to dance and has no reservation about shanking her groove thang!! I love when the girlies come over to play with Hailey, and I know that she enjoys having kids in the neighborhood!! I could not help but laugh watching Deja trying to help Hailey with a backbend!!! She was quite the little trooper!!
As we were all out playing along comes the boys.... These boys are so stinking cute and they love to stir things up!! Boys will be boys!! Next thing I hear coming from the girls are "Boys are dumb" The little 3 year old repeats... "Yeah boys are dumb" They like to get Deja going and then she chases after them!! It was drama... Well as much drama as you can have at that age!!

Rya asked if she could play with some baby dolls!! Last time she was at our house Hailey brought out her babies and they all sat around and played!! Tonight they ended up playing with the stuffed animals and Rya wanted to know if we also had a tea set!! I was not about to bring out the whole kit and kaboodle... Maybe another time!! This little chicklet is quite the little chatter box... She was more than happy to tell me all about being a princess for Halloween!! However, she was not sure which princess she was going to be!! Hailey and I went shopping today for her Halloween costume!! She decided that she wanted to be Snow White!! We found her a great costume at Party City!! Surprisingly on sale!! Jackpot!! Hailey told her all about her costume!! Needless to say it was not a dull moment around our home tonight!! I loved it!! I think it is so sweet when the come over during the week to see if Hailey can come out and play... I only wish she were here to go out and play with them!!!

Why, Why, Why?!?!?

Days like today and yesterday I have to ask myself why I enjoy what I do at work!! I love working with the kiddos and hearing all about their random stories and I especially love all of the dinner invitations.... However, yesterday and today we have had some drama.... I mean trauma!!! Yesterday we had a little 6 year old girl referred to our office from a general dentist... She was riding her bike on Sunday (Her mom said she was showing off for her friends) and she ended up going head over handle bars smacking her chin on the cement.... Her parents took her to the ER where they put 4 stitches in her chin. She later was complaining of pain on her left cheek and it was discovered that she broke her little 2 year molar and the nerve/ pulp was exposed!!! It did not stop there!! Dr. Lisa was doing a jaw evaluation and discovered that the pt. had some discomfort in her jaw... After taking an x-ray and a trip to the oral surgeon it was concluded that she has a fractured condyle... aka The Jaw!! She was such a cutie and I felt so bad for her!! She is coming back in on Friday so that we can fix her little tooth.... A baby root canal!! Not as bad as it sounds!! We do them almost daily!! However, for the next 6 weeks she will be on a soft diet until her jaw heals!!!

Wednesday are typically our days off.... Well we do not see patients, however, we go in and do office work!! When I got in to work around 12:40 I was informed that an emergency was going to be coming in at 3:30!! This little tyke was barely a year old.... He was standing at the coffee table a couple of weeks ago and took a little spill... His parents did not notice anything immediate however, yesterday the tooth started to turn purple.... Today it was very purple!! They brought him in and upon evaluation it was concluded that the little guy needed to have his tooth extracted!! All of you who have kids know how cute those front little teeth are... The sad thing is this particular tooth was still coming in!! We could not do a root canal on his tooth because the root of the tooth had not closed together!! The look on the parents face was no sight that I have not seen before.... I felt so bad for them... Watching their little guy go through that!! Not fun! I have become quite desensitized to it, sad but true!! I would never get through these things if I did not block it out!! I am sure it would be different if it were my own child laying there!! About a month and a half ago I almost lost it when a little 3 year old came in and had smacked his two front teeth... I felt so bad for the mom and it is hard when there is nothing you can do to make them feel any better... The parents that is! By the time the little guy left today he was feeling much better... I am sure he was pretty tuckered by everything that happened!!

Do not get me wrong, I love what I do.....! I enjoy being able to help kids feel confident about their smiles!!! To bad most of you do not live in Colorado, I would love to see your little ones!!! Just remember, if anything happens to your little one.... You are not alone.... Especially if you have boys!!!

Hair, Hair, Hair!!

Every so often I like to switch the hairstyle... I need my haircut in the worst way!! However, I have been trying something different lately!! I kind of like it!! I have never been the type to pin the bangs straight back but I took a leap and it is growing on me!! Also I have enjoyed scrunching the hair to give it a little more body!! Change is good!!! I think it gives me a little more attitude!!! I can blame it on the hair!! The reason why I share this is because Kelli does not live close by and I can trust her to let me know what she thinks.... So Kelli, here is your chance!! Let me know!!!

Say Cheese!!

Josh and Hailey thought it would be funny to close their eyes for the picture!! I am so glad that they were so entertained by it! I still think it is a great picture of the two of them!! I tease Hailey about her shoes in her hands.. I said I cannot believe you were smelling your shoes while I was taking a picture!! She just laughed at me!! She is such a cutie and she loves being around her dad!! When she comes over on the weekends she cannot wait for Josh to get home so that they can play!! She has a couple of favorites, however, she loves her little Dr. Kit that she got awhile back!! She loves for us to play patient while she tries to cure us!! We usually take smarties for medication... surprisingly we always feel better!! Nothing beats a good rush of sugar!! She prefers to be called Dr. G and her bedroom is the hospital.... I chuckle to myself just thinking about it!!

Santa Clause is Coming to Town!!

Hailey is quite the little character!! She loves going into her closet and looking at all the clothes that are in there that she never knew she had!! She found this santa outfit that Josh got her 2 years ago so that they could go and get their holiday pictures, she was so anxious to try it on to see if it still fit!! Much to our surprise... Well the picture says it all!! She loved it!! She especially loved the little hat that came with it!! Hailey always has a smile ready for the camera!!! I took Little Miss to get some pictures taken of her about a week ago.... I was able to go on Saturday to pick them up!! They are precious!! They turned out perfect!! This was going to be a birthday surprise for Josh, however, Hailey could not wait to show him!! The paper print out we showed him did not do justice to the ones I got back on Saturday!! She was such a little trooper!!! I know she loved having her pictures taken!! The smile on her little face tells it all!! I am patiently waiting for the pictures to be uploaded to the web site so that I can share with friends and family.... For now you will have to bear with me, I took pictures of the ones hanging on the walls!! I know I am silly but it works!! Hailey will be happy to see her pictures around the house!! She is such a delight to have in our home!!
